I find happiness in your smile,

I find it in a stranger's laughter

In a couple's starry eyes

I don't find it on the back of a cereal box

Or on a tube advert

Or within the folds of a packaged present

Sometimes I find it in a dish of roasted vegetables

I may find it in the warmth of melted chocolate

Certainly it may drift from a bouquet of flowers

I don't find it in a cheque

Or in a plastic bag

I'm more likely to find happiness

In a few words, or the short moment upon waking each morning

But I know hat happiness is really only

In my own heart
